The leaguewide demand at quarterback could obviously lead to a long-term deal, but Bradford’s knee is enough of a concern at this point that he might have to pick a spot (Arizona?) where he can prove himself healthy for a year before hitting the market again for one more big payday. — Graziano
Injuries have defined his career so far, but when he has been on the field, he has shown himself to be a strong option in the red zone. The tight end market should be interesting, and a lot of teams are looking, but Eifert has a lot to prove before he can get his long-term deal. — Graziano
He was aware of what I was doing and obviously I was aware of what he was doing, Olson said. His name was plastered everywhere. We just talked to each other and he asked if I was getting hounded by the media. I was like, ‘Uhh, honestly, no.’ I feel like nobody knows. It was good. I told him, ‘Stay healthy, keep it up, and good luck the rest of the way.’
Hoskins went on a riveting run with 11 homers in 79 at-bats in August before Olson topped it with 13 long balls in 79 ABs in September. For the season, Olson averaged one homer every 7.88 at-bats — the fourth-best ratio ever for a hitter with at least 200 plate appearances. Only Barry Bonds (in 2001), and Mark McGwire (in 1998 and 2000) have surpassed it.
My wife and I talk about my struggles, Bosh says. You have to have those conversations. A lot of guys in this league don’t talk to their wives. They go on the road, do what they want to do, they figure, ‘This is basketball, she won’t understand.’ It’s easy to keep that divide when you are playing. But when you are in the house 24/7, it’s a whole different world. It’s a sensitive topic, but it’s important. My wife and I are one person. I’m very lucky to be able to say that.
She has helped me realize I have to move on, create a new life. I’m a husband, I’m a father, and I’ve got to dive into that now.
In the meantime, Bosh says he’s navigating bills, doctor’s appointments and his financial portfolio. The next big thing has yet to materialize in his mind.
I have millions of dollars and I don’t know finance, Bosh says. I’ve had some bad things happen in my career. I’ve got to educate myself. I sit down with my finance guy once a month and go over everything, line by line.
