8 things to watch in NFL’s Week 6: Kirk Cousins gets to audition for the 49ers

Washington’s contract situation with its starting quarterback is tenuous. The club has steadfastly refused to give Kirk Cousins the big-money, long-term contract he desires, instead locking him in to franchise player designations that keep him from the free agent market on one-year deals. Cousins is making $23.9 million in 2017 and would cost $34.5 million to franchise again next fall or $28.8 million for one year under the Cheap Dan Marino Jerseys transition tag.

Earlier this week, Cousins gave the exact kind of cliched responses to questions about his future as you’d imagine. But that won’t stop the speculation from now until free agency.

More recent years hold some potential — though Corey Coleman’s inability to stay healthy threatens to derail his career. Shelton is a solid space-clogger up front. Myles Garrett has three sacks in two professional games. Jabrill Peppers is flawed, but athletic enough to develop into a plus starter in the Cleveland secondary.

Those are big numbers, albeit against second-string competition. Hundley will have the biggest opportunity of his football life when he fills Rodgers’ role in the lineup. A big performance wouldn’t just keep Green Bay afloat while its starter recuperates — it would also lead to a big payday in 2019. The UCLA product has one year remaining on his contract after this season, and a solid showing would make him a commodity in a league where Mike Glennon can sign a three-year, $45 million deal to throw at the feet of Chicago’s receivers.

He didn’t get off to a great start against the Vikings, who pressured him throughout the afternoon. While he tossed a touchdown, he balanced that out with three interceptions. He finished the game Cheap Dri Fit Jerseys with 157 yards, but needed 33 passes to get there.
